Camps Bay

Als ik in Kaapstad ben, overnachten we vaak in Camps Bay of Clifton. Lekker dichtbij het strand. Camps Bay staat bekend om de plek waar de fotomodellen en de rich and famous rondlopen. Dat valt allemaal best wel mee hoor. Hoewel, we zijn Jack Nicholson al diverse malen tegengekomen. Het is verder gewoon een hele fijne plek. En wat maakt Camps Bay tot een bijzondere plek? Camps Bay ligt op een schitterende locatie.  Het strand en de Atlantische Oceaan voor je en op de achtergond de Twelve Apostelen en Lion’s Head. Je beleeft hier het ultieme vakantiegevoel.

Zwemmen in de zee van Camps Bay is voor velen geen optie. Het water is namelijk echt ijskoud. Dit komt namelijk omdat Kaapstad aan de Atlantische Oceaan ligt, welke een koude stroming geeft. Het water is daardoor net boven het vriespunt. Het is wel lekker om zo nu en dan even met de voetjes in het koude water te lopen.

Wat ik altijd fijn vind is om na het ontbijt een uurtje op het strand te lezen en te genieten van het ochtend zonnetje. Of gewoon te kijken hoe de local people van Camps Bay hun dag beginnen.

Beneden aan de weg die langs het strand loopt, zijn alle restaurantjes en barretjes van Camps Bay gelegen, ook wel de strip genoemd. Er zijn verschillende restaurants waar je kan ontbijten, lunchen, borrelen en dineren. Voor ontbijt ga ik vaak naar La Bella Bistro & Bakery.

Hun menukaart is voornamelijk gericht op ontbijt en lunch. Ook kun je hier de lekkerste sapjes bestellen. Naast het lekkere ontbijt hebben ze hier ook heerlijke gebakjes. The Red Velvet cake is hierbij mijn favoriet. Hier begin je de dag dus goed.

Om te dineren behoort ZenZero tot een van mijn favorieten restaurants. Je kunt lekkere pasta gerechten bestellen. Daarnaast hebben ze hier goede Zuid Afrikaanse wijnen.

Overal langs de strip kun je onwijs goed genieten van de zonsondergang. Deze is in Camps Bay namelijk echt heel mooi! Lekker aan een tafeltje met een drankje. Ook geeft dit weer zo een fijn vakantiegevoel!

Wat veel mensen niet weten is dat hoger in de heuvels van Camps Bay nog een prachtig restaurant ie gelegen: The Roundhouse. Dit is denk wel een van de meest romantische finedining restaurants in de omgeving van Kaapstad. Het uitzicht is erg bijzonder. Dus boek een tafel bij het raam, zodat je van de zonsondergang kunt genieten. The Roundhouse ligt namelijk in de heuvels van Campsbay, hierdoor heb je een waanzinnig uitzicht over Camps Bay en de oceaan.
Naast The Roundhouse ligt Rumbullion. Ook dit is echt een aanrader om heen te gaan. Dit is een lunch plek waar je aan de picknick tafels kunt genieten van het eten en mooie uitzicht.

Camps Bay heeft verschillende accomodaties waar je kunt overnachten. Een van de bekendste hotels van Camps Bay is The Bay Hotel. The Bay Hotel is een vijfsterren hotel en behoort tot de duurdere hotels van Camps Bay en Kaapstad. Het hotel ligt direct aan de boulevard. Vanaf de suites en het zwembad heb daardoor prachtig uitzicht over de zee.

Een ander bekend luxe vijfsterren hotel van Camps Bay is het Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa. Dit hotel ligt tussen Camps Bay en Hout Bay in.  Je kunt hier ook alleen lunchen of dineren. Vanaf het terras heb je werkelijk waar prachtig uitzicht op de Tweede Apostles. Het is dan ook zeker aan raden om hier een keer te lunchen of wijn te drinken met zonsondergang.
